Hi, I’m Relationship Fitness Coach, Denver Hudson.
Before you consider working with me as your Relationship Fitness Coach I’m sure you’re going to want to know a little about me and what makes me tick. That’s fair. So let’s jump in!
I’ve been passionate about human relationships since I was in my early teens. I was one of those weird ones who read books like “False Love” and “Finding the Love of Your Life” and books on how to build effective teams while others were playing sports and going to the movies. Admittedly, I’m fascinated with and passionate about the whole realm of human relationships in all contexts of life including intimate relationships, leadership, and work teams.
In March of 1993 I opened my business, serving mostly businesses and non-profits by offering speaking and training sessions. I’m passionate about helping individuals take personal responsibility for their lives, being at cause in their life and work instead of allowing circumstances to dictate who they are or how they show up. This empowers individuals to bring their best efforts forward and create unprecedented results through their relationships. My clients have included non-profits, manufacturing companies, small businesses, schools, and individual coaching clients.
In 2000, my business evolved when I was introduced to coaching by my mentor and good friend, Tom Richardson. Through coaching, a whole new world opened up to me as I immersed myself into a profession that is deeply committed to the pursuit of human greatness. The first challenge was that it challenged ME to open up to my own greatness as a person. Being in this profession has been and continues to be an amazing experience both for me and those I serve. As I got more involved in coaching, I was hooked and have been passionate about it every since! As a result, all of my work today is coaching based.
Professional Training
I’m a professionally trained “Ontological Coach” as well as a Certified Training Consultant. Ontology is the study of being – what it means to BE a human being. Foundational to this work is human relationships, since who we are is created through the relationships we have with others. You’ve probably not heard of Ontological Coaching, but as an Ontological Coach I work in the domains of the body, moods and emotions, and language. In other words, when looking to improve the health of your relationships at home and work we would look at how you are relating with your body, with your emotions and moods (e.g. emotional intelligence), and with your language (e.g. use of words, conversations). When you generate health in all of those areas and then bring that powerfully into relating with others, you have what I call “Relationship Fitness” and amazing things become possible in and through your relationships!
What’s important to understand here is that during my coach training I didn’t learn ABOUT coaching, but I learned how to BE a coach. This is an important distinction, especially if we decide to work together, because learning is more about BECOMING and BEING than it is about LEARNING ABOUT something. So, for example, you can learn about leadership, or you can learn how to BE a leader. You can learn about intimacy, or you can learn how to BE intimacy in a relationship. You can learn about health and fitness, or you can learn how to BE health. See the difference?
After I completed my Ontological Coach Training, I reinvented my business offering my expertise, experience, and passion to three primary types of clients: (1) singles who are seeking a life partner while creating a life they truly love, (2) couples who want to rekindle and deepen their intimacy, connection, and love for each other while creating new possibilities for their lives and marriage, and (3) leaders and work teams to create healthy relationships that lead to peak performance, personal fulfillment, and maximum contribution in the world.
Personally
Life has been such a wonderful experience. I’m always amazed at how life has given me exactly what I need to learn and grow. Although this will strike some as odd, I’ve been divorced twice. Life gave me two marriages to learn what it really means to be in a relationship. The first time I was just young and naive and jumped into a relationship to get on with my life, so to speak. Not real smart, but a learning experience none the less.
In my second marriage, we literally grew apart and found ourselves with different ideas of what the future should look like. One of my core values is “personal growth,” and I’m constantly learning and evolving as a person. My second wife did not share that value, and we literally grew apart as a result. Thankfully neither one of us was willing to compromise what we value most deeply for the sake of the marriage continuing. We knew that wouldn’t be much of a relationship or much of a future together. So, we decided it would be best to part our ways and allow each other to continue to evolve in the different directions we were headed. Through it all, I’ve been a learner and my passion to help others live with health and dynamic relationships just continues to grow. My relationships have been fertile ground for learning and have contributed greatly to helping me to become a masterful, compassionate coach.
I enjoy exercise, strength training, nature, reading, spending time with friends and family, and making a difference in the lives of others. As a very disciplined person, I am committed to living what I teach and showing up as a powerful contribution to others.
I look forward to sharing more with you as we work together in a coaching relationship. If you have any questions about my training or experiences, please don’t hesitate to give me call at (812) 299-0214 or send me an e-mail at denver@relationshipfitnessonline.com.
